5K/5K is a call to action, a personal challenge to move us from
wishing we were in better shape physically and financially, to
actually doing something about it. We all want to be healthy and to
live a more financially secure life, but most people need some
encouragement. We need to know we are not alone and most people
find it easier to begin an endeavor with a goal in mind and an
event to celebrate reaching those goals. The goal in this process
is simple, to complete a 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk and to pay off or
save $5000. This will be the beginning of a process that will
empower you. Even if you have never participated in a 5K run/walk,
or attempted to payoff an amount as large as $5000 this is still
for you. Once you see that progress can be made in reaching your
life goals it will change your old way of thinking as you begin to
take control of your life. What may start with 5K/5K could possibly
lead to life changing experiences where you find yourself in the
better shape physically and financially than you have ever been in
your life. What does running a 5K and paying down $5000 in debt or
saving $5000 have to do with each other? Everything. Both are hopes
that at first glance seem like a nearly impossible goal to reach.
When goals or plans are put into action, followed through with
detailed plans, held accountable by fellow 5K/5K participants and
celebrated as we complete the event then we move from wishing we
could achieve our goals to encouraging others, sharing our success
stories with those who we know are dealing with the same struggles
we have been through. It has been said that money is the last
taboo. People seldom discuss their personal finances with other
people, unless things going really well. On the surface we want
everyone to believe that things are fine and we don’t have issues
with money. The reality is the average American has anywhere from
$5000-$8000 in credit card debt and our national savings rate is
less than 2%. That means on average Americans save $0.02 for every
dollar earned. We are also less active than ever before as our
lives become more and more hectic. We work longer hours and take
less time for ourselves. If you begin to take steps to reduce debt
and/or increase savings while working towards a fitness goal you
will begin setting yourself apart from the average American.
Denying reality will not change your circumstances, only a
conscious decision to act will. Don’t miss out on a potentially
life changing event. Sign up today as an individual, or organize a
team to begin working towards completing the 5K/5K as you take
control of you health, wealth, and life. An outline to get your
started on your 5k5k can be found in this
